Quilting Tips: If you want to catch the judge's eye with your quilting, use original designs and be sure to include some variety in each quilt. You don't have to be an artist to draw your own motifs. Borrow a design from the applique or pieced design of the quilt - maybe even from the print of the fabric! Pay attention to your background fill choices as well. Be sure the scale of the background quilting is appropriate to enhance the larger motifs. Use several different background quilting patterns to draw the eye across the quilt. Be creative! Have fun with your quilting!
Linda learned to sew at the age of 9 in a 4H club and has been making quilts for over 30 years. After 20 years of hand quilting, she began quilting on a Gammill longarm quilting machine and it was love at first stitch! Linda has been quilting on the longarm for 10 years and her quilts have won top honors at many national and international quilt shows, including numerous best of show honors. Linda’s whole cloth quilt ‘Bella’ was the top winner in the $100,000 Quilting Challenge 2006 and was featured on the Today Show. ‘Bella’ was designated a Masterpiece Quilt in the National Quilting Association’s Master Quilt program in 2007.
Linda is an NQA certified judge. She enjoys presenting trunk shows of her work, and teaching longarm quilting classes. Linda and her husband, Don, live in New Galilee, PA.
